What is lichen planus?

Lichen planus is an inflammatory skin condition. There are variants that affect the mucous membranes, nails, and hair follicles. It can have many causes, including supplements and prescription medications.

Why treat lichen planus?

Lichen planus is often very itchy and can cause scarring or discoloration.

How is lichen planus treated at DTLA Derm?

Our board-certified dermatologists will give these patients the attention and research-focused treatment their condition requires. We will perform an evaluation and, if needed, a biopsy to render a diagnosis. Treatment involves oral medication, medicated creams, wound care, and possibly phototherapy. Serial photographs are taken to monitor progress of treatments.
